superfluous remixes
sometimes you need to listen to a remix not because it goes hard or rewrites the original, but because you’ve played the master version out and need an easy replacement.
obviously Deadbeat Summer is a great song, and Afghan Raiders don’t do much to fuck with the formula but I find myself drawn to it because it sounds more like a cover than a full on remix.*

formed in Leeds in the late ’80s and signed to 4AD. they released their second album In Ribbons in ‘92. I’ve been listening to it a lot lately. it’s loose and wispy, as if the mics were placed on the other side of a thin fog from where the band was playing. also it sounds as though all the lights in the studio were turned off and they recorded in pitch blackness.

ok so it was mostly cheap erotic thrills, but any excuse to dress Klaus Kinski up as a sultan and surround him with naked breasts, right?
sometimes the dialogue was corny and the end was a total cop out but it kept my interest for the duration the way the (absent) plot kept running circles around itself. and I couldn’t imagine a more complimentary soundtrack.

don't roll your eyes at me
this new track is a collaboration between Mark Fosco of Marvelous Darlings and Ben Cook of Young Governor and Fucked Up. while I don’t care for any of their “real” bands, this Roommates song makes me want to take my shirt off and roll around on the ground while singing along as it plays at an incredibly high volume.

just picked up this bootleg of a My Bloody Valentine show from Vancouver that goes by the name of Loom. I can’t find an exact date but it’s from sometime in early ‘92 so it’s obviously a lot of Loveless material.
